As a member of Hudl’s brand design team, my primary responsibility is to translate marketing plans into visual communication pieces. Each designer on our team breaks out into one, or multiple cross-discipline teams called “markets” that focus on a different market audience — but as a brand design team, we also step across market assignments to help each other out when some markets have a heavier workload. In addition to market assignments, we also take requests from all departments at Hudl. This project encapsulates the remainder of my marketing / brand & comms work that doesn’t fit into my work in layout design or branding projects.

In 2022, I joined the brand market, which has a main focus of promoting Hudl’s brand to prospective and current Hudlies, in addition to the general public. The market also takes on special projects that promote Hudl’s brand mission, such as BreakThrough Summit, About Time, our yearly United Way campaign, and others.

Most of my work for this market is captured in other projects, but these samples are taken from various campaigns and one-off projects we’ve run through this market.

In 2023, I created refreshed headers for hudl.com/jobs/search and hudl.com/jobs/benefits - the rest of the pages were designed by members of our web and brand design teams.

 
 
 
 

NEWSWEEK BEST GLOBAL WORKPLACE AWARD

In 2023, we were awarded the Best Global Workplace award by Newsweek in 2023, landing in 48th place out of 100 businesses. To celebrate, we announced our standing through social media, and created a unique post for Hudlies to share on their own channels that had separate design from the Life@Hudl posts.

As a part of a larger effort to upgrade our hudl.com/jobs page, and create other webpages that show our culture and what it’s like to work at Hudl, we created a webpage detailing our Inclusion efforts as a company.

2023 INCLUSION REPORT

For our 2023 Inclusion Report, we shifted from our typical PDF deliverable, to putting everything in one longform blog on our site. My role involved creating the charts and infographics featured in report, as well as organic social and web deliverables to promote the report release.

events

Our events team not only helps run Hudl-owned events (such as BreakThrough, Swish, Blitz, Hudl Week, etc.), but also plans out and executes our presence at clinics and partner events throughout the year. As designers, a huge amount of our work revolves around helping the events team activate on the visual side of our events presence.

 

BLITZ ‘23

For Blitz ‘23, our yearly football coaches conference, I worked as the lead designer on the project - I helped refresh our brand, helped art direct collateral made by Sydney Urban, and worked on larger design aspects of the event.

My biggest project for this event was our set design - for the first time ever, Blitz ‘23 would have a live component, with our host Charles Davis flying into our Hudl Headquarters in Lincoln Nebraska, to film in-person. I helped transform our Playground, a recreation space in our office, into a film set that football fans could resonate with.

I worked with our events and marketing team to source and create a Hudl neon sign, Blitz branded desk graphics we could use in future events, and sourced football-related shelf props from members of the Hudl community.

EVENT BANNER SYSTEM

In 2021, I created a banner system for the events team to use at their clinics. The system relied on a main center banner that was always present, and then a system of side banners that could be intermixed depending on the event.

The side banners created covered every product for high school / small college / club customers, in addition to every sport the market serves (soccer, football, lacrosse, ice hockey, and volleyball.) The system was later replicated for our D1 college / pro league customers.

During a period of short staffing on our team, I filled in on the product market in addition to the high school / small college market for over five months. Since then, I’ve also worked on a large campaign to update our streaming assets after our acquisition of Blueframe.

The product market focuses on creating materials for new product launches and updates, maintaining support materials for existing products, providing training and educational material for customers on our products, and so much more.

Since I started at Hudl in January of 2021, I’ve been the primary designer dedicated to the high school / small college market. This market primarily focuses on marketing our athletic department packages, along with promoting products and services for individual sport markets (football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, and ice hockey).
